We require File32 format containing the following information:
Event Number
Full Source File Name
Locator Name
Starting Time Code
Ending Time Code
Timeline Start Time Code
Please be sure to remove any speed effects or transitions from the clips before making the EDL. Also, please clean up any unneeded files and remove any black (slug) or place holders from the sequence.
For VFX, locator names are very important to include on every request.(specifically in the case of EXR/DPX files). Vendors require these so they can easily identify the proper shot to use for each VFX request. Locator names (or the absence of) are one of the most common oversights we see with submitted EDLs.
Putting the show abbreviation followed by the episode number, the VFX vendor that it is going to and ending with the date is an effective way to name the EDL for organizational purposes on all fronts.
For example if you were submitting an EDL today for the first episode of Great Show Season 3 to go to Vendor A, it might be named:
